Whilst you may have a chuckle over the abbreviation "MILF" from the safety of your desks in London, Birmingham and Manchester, for those of us expats living and working here in the Philippines, it's no laughing matter. In fact, as the Philippines Government has stated that it will no longer be signing the agreement which gives the Muslims an enhanced autonomous region and instead wishes to renegotiate, the current unrest could likely be escalated into all-out war.

A day or two ago, a bus travelling from Zamboanga to Cagayan De Oro on Mindanao was ambushed by a MILF patrol and almost all its passengers - all civilians - were executed; only four, including the driver, managed to escape.

So please, a little sensitivity!
