Sun showed it can still get ahead of the crowd last night, as it became the first tech company to try and grab some reflected glory from Barack Obama's victory in the US election.
The polls had barely closed in California, before Sun CEO Jonathan Schwartz' blogged this comment on Obama's win.
"On behalf of Sun Microsystems, I would like to offer my sincerest congratulations to President elect Barack Obama. What an extraordinary accomplishment."
Yes, a senior silicon valley exec bravely nailing his true colours to the mast, albeit after the result was called.
But wait, there's more.
"I would also like to extend my congratulations to his web team for having chosen MySQL as the platform behind their election web site, BarackObama.com," Schwartz continued.
The pundits reckon Obama can give America back its confidence and help turn it back into an economic powerhouse. If Schwarz's combination of rapid scramble onto the bandwagon with product pitch is anything to go by, we're already well back on our way to business as usual.®
